Label TextGudea represented himself in this statue as an architect with his tools at the ready--a large unmarked tablet, a stylus, and a measuring -stick. Although the writing tablet is blank, the text inscribed on his fringed garment describes his construction of a temple for Gatumdu, the “mother of Lagash.”
