DescriptionRounded double-convex body. Two ridges encircle large filling hole. Elongated soot-blackened spout. Crudely executed decoratyion on shoulder, consisting of deep radial ridging, and herringbone design on nozzle. There is an impressed circle with dot at rear of filling hole. The fabric of the lamp is flaking, with some lime encrustation on flat circular base. Comparanda: Barag/Hershkovitz 1994:13 #1 - this Masada lamp was made in the Jerusalem area, according to neutron activation tests. DIAGNOSTIC FEATURE: Herringbone
