Nuzi Lion Composite Statuette

Label TextWe created this statuette by combining archaeological fragments with a torso modeled on a more complete lion in another collection. A 3D model was digitally stitched together from multiple 2D photographs and then mechanically carved from high-density foam. We were able to determine the original, now degraded colors (visible on the paws and hind quarters) through scientific testing and reproduce them in paint.
