Label TextAssyrian military strategy often included forced migration of conquered people to distant parts of the empire. Texts associated with this relief indicate that those shown here were deportees from the Elamite city of Din-Sharri, captured by Ashurbanipal in 664 BC. Men, women, and children are among the prisoners. Some walk, possessions in hand, while others ride in an ox-cart.
