Label TextAshurnasirpal shoots arrows at an attacking lion from his chariot. Two attendants follow behind to dispatch the wounded animal with their daggers. The relief is positioned here as it would have been in the Assyrian palace, above a scene of the king making an offering over a dead lion, presumably one of the animals shown in this relief.
