Label TextAs glass technology improved, the use of glass spread. These bottles, used for various cosmetics, unguents, and perfumes, are excellent examples of form and color demonstrating the changing trends found in the industry. Unlike core-formed vessels, artisans made these by using molded glass or blown-glass techniques.
DescriptionPale olive green vessel.Sheared and rounded rim; short, narrow cylindrical neck, slightly widening towards the rim; globular body; base is a disk (separately added or not?) with pontil mark. Around the body and base is one single thread wound to form a spiral pattern; the thread itself is very similar to a chain handle: pinched together at intervals and at certain point a line is punched into the decoration so that it is uneven. No residue; piece is well preserved, extensive dirt/patina on in and outside of the vessel.
Ovoid; base: low applied foot; neck slightly flared out to a thickened rim; five bands of thick, rippled threading around vessel; color: light brown.
